Improving Energy Efficiency at Elite 1200 627 Elite Electronic Systems

At Elite, improving energy efficiency is an important part of our wider commitment to reducing our environmental impact and putting our core value, Do the Right Thing, into practice.

At our Enniskillen facility, electricity accounts for around 86-89% of the energy we use.

To better understand where that energy is being consumed, we have installed meters across different areas of the site, allowing us to monitor usage, identify opportunities for improvement, and introduce targeted energy-saving initiatives.

Turning insight into action

This monitoring has been supported by a number of practical changes across the facility.

Moving from T5 fluorescent lighting to LED has reduced lighting consumption by 50%, demonstrating the impact that targeted improvements can have on overall energy efficiency.

In May 2025, we also installed 466 solar panels at our Enniskillen site. The project was introduced with the aim of reducing our annual reliance on grid electricity by approximately 18%, increasing the amount of energy generated directly on site.

Alongside this, Elite has introduced a heat recovery system which captures waste heat generated by our compressors and transfers it into our stores area. By reusing heat that would otherwise be lost, we can reduce demand on additional heating equipment and, in turn, lower energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions.

We also use an electricity provider whose energy mix includes electricity generated from renewable sources, supporting our wider sustainability and carbon reduction objectives.

Delivering measurable results

Together, these initiatives have helped reduce average weekly energy consumption at our Enniskillen facility from 51,604 kWh to 46,858 kWh – a 9.2% saving.

For us, the important part is that this is not about one individual project. It is about continuing to understand where improvements can be made, using the data available to us, and making practical changes that collectively reduce our environmental impact over time.

A wider commitment to sustainability

Energy efficiency is one part of our wider sustainability journey.

Across our Enniskillen site, we also undertake circular economy activity through waste segregation, recycling, and the recovery of production-related materials.

Our waste management processes have reduced the number of skip collections required each month, while all waste collected by our licensed waste carrier is recycled. The site has also received zero waste to landfill certification.

Our focus remains on continuous improvement, with further ESG and sustainability initiatives continuing to develop across the business. This includes our engagement with ESOS to provide further insight into energy consumption and identify additional opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and lower carbon emissions.

Do the Right Thing is one of our core values at Elite.

By continuing to measure, understand, and improve the way we use energy and resources across our operations, we are working to turn that value into practical action.
